Joint Program with Wild Ones: A 40 Year Friendship with Purple Martins

  • Evergreen Retirement Community 1130 North Westfield Street Oshkosh, WI, 54902 United States (map)

We always look forward to our annual joint program with Wild Ones Fox Valley Area Chapter. Our speaker, Dick Nikolai, is well-known to both of our organizations. With a BS in Wildlife Management, Dick worked with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for over 39 years. To say Dick has a passion for Purple Martins is an understatement.

In his presentation, Dick will provide background information on the ecology of this aerial insectivore while explaining human impacts that threaten their survival. He has spent a lifetime of banding, researching, and observing purple martins in hopes of turning around a declining population that is struggling with its constricting occurrence on the landscape.

Join us for a social at 6:30 pm followed by the program at 7:00 pm. in the Behnke Room on the Lower Level at Evergreen Retirement Community, 1130 N. Westfield St., Oshkosh.

This program is free and open to the public.
