You are invited to attend this special presentation about music inspired by bird songs. Micky Torpedo, a multi-instrumentalist composer, producer, performer, and music educator from Rockford, IL, has collaborated with Sinnissippi Audubon (Rockford, IL) to produce three instrumental albums inspired by elements of specific bird calls of various species, including the American Bittern and Sandhill Crane. Torpedo’s songs combine a variety of genres, including ambient, classical, and folk. The project aims to raise awareness and to educate about the birds featured and the conservation of their beloved habitats. Jennifer Kuroda, Board President of Sinnissippi Audubon, will join Torpedo to share about the mission and meaning of this unique project. The event will round out with a live performance of a few select songs by Torpedo and a guest violinist. Join us for an afternoon of beautiful music and conservation education through the arts!
Stay for an ice cream social, and bird-friendly chocolate and coffee following the music. This program is free and open to the public.
We will have a very brief annual meeting prior to the program to elect officers and approve the proposed budget for the new fiscal year.
